Even as a rookie, Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever is already well-known in the WNBA. The league’s first overall draft pick had to adjust, therefore, when she went on her first road trip last week. Like the majority of the players in the league, Clark did not board the plane right away after packing her luggage; instead, she had to go through the same security checks and wait times as everyone else at the Dallas airport.

She wouldn’t appreciate avoiding the inconvenience on subsequent travels, and league commissioner Cathy Engelbert is now working on a fix. Clark and her new colleagues welcomed the move one day after Engelbert informed a gathering of sports editors that she is looking for regular charter flights for each of the 12 WNBA clubs. “It’s just a matter of knowing where you are,” Clark remarked following practice on Wednesday. It’s wonderful that you have security when you travel. Simply put, it’s not like college, when you load up your stuff, board the aircraft, and take off. However, just as you are waiting at baggage claim (here), you must go through standard security procedures along with everyone else. It was my first time doing it for myself.
