
Mason Melia, a 17-year-old forward from Newtownmountkennedy, County Wicklow, has emerged as one of Ireland’s most promising football talents. He began his youth career with Newtown Juniors before stints at St Joseph’s Boys and Bray Wanderers. In 2022, he joined St Patrick’s Athletic, making his senior debut at just 15. Over two seasons, Melia made 47 appearances, scoring nine goals.
Internationally, Melia has been a key player for the Republic of Ireland’s youth teams, representing the U15s, U16s, U17s, and U19s, with a total of 38 caps and 13 goals.

On February 4, 2025, Tottenham Hotspur announced they had agreed to a record €1.8 million transfer fee with St Patrick’s Athletic for Melia, making him the first League of Ireland player to surpass the €1 million mark. Due to Brexit regulations, Melia will join Tottenham in January 2026, upon turning 18, signing a five-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2031.
