In true rock-and-roll fashion, Dave Grohl has surprised fans yet again—this time by announcing a brand-new solo album, recorded entirely in a single day. Titled Just Me, Coffee, and a Garage, the album promises to be a raw, unfiltered look into Grohl’s creative process, and according to the Foo Fighters frontman, it’s a passion project born from spontaneity and caffeine.
Grohl made the announcement via social media on Tuesday, posting a black-and-white photo of himself seated behind a drum kit in what appears to be a cluttered garage studio. The caption read simply: “12 hours. 10 songs. 1 pot of coffee. Just Me, Coffee, and a Garage—coming soon.”
In a brief statement accompanying the post, Grohl explained, “I woke up with a bunch of riffs in my head, made a pot of coffee, and decided not to overthink it. I grabbed my gear and hit record. No producers, no fancy mics—just me doing what I love.”
The album, Grohl says, will feature ten brand-new tracks, all written, performed, and mixed by him. The sound is expected to draw on his grunge and punk roots while also experimenting with more stripped-down, acoustic textures. “Some of it’s loud, some of it’s weird, and some of it sounds like I wrote it in my sleep,” Grohl joked.
This isn’t the first time the former Nirvana drummer has taken a DIY approach to recording. In fact, Grohl famously recorded the Foo Fighters’ debut album almost entirely on his own in 1994. But this new project feels more intimate and immediate—less polished, more personal.
While a release date has not yet been confirmed, fans are already buzzing online, eager to hear what Grohl’s caffeine-fueled creativity has cooked up. One thing’s for sure: when it comes to Dave Grohl, expect the unexpected—and always expect it to rock.
