In a move that has energized the Buffalo Sabres’ fan base, the team announced the return of Lindy Ruff as head coach. Ruff, the winningest coach in franchise history, previously led the Sabres from 1997 to 2013, amassing a record of 571–432–78–84 and guiding the team to multiple playoff appearances, including a trip to the Stanley Cup Final in 1999.
After his tenure with the Sabres, Ruff served as head coach for the Dallas Stars and, most recently, the New Jersey Devils. His return to Buffalo comes after the team parted ways with Don Granato, seeking a new direction following a disappointing season.
Ruff’s reappointment is seen as a strategic move to bring experience and stability to a young Sabres roster.
