The Las Vegas Raiders have bolstered their defense by signing veteran linebacker Devin White to a one-year contract. White, the fifth overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, brings a wealth of experience and a championship pedigree to Las Vegas.
During his tenure with the Buccaneers, White was instrumental in their Super Bowl LV victory, showcasing his exceptional speed and tackling abilities. Over five seasons in Tampa Bay, he amassed 585 tackles and 23 sacks, earning a Pro Bowl selection in 2021.
The move to Las Vegas reunites White with Raiders General Manager John Spytek, who was part of the Buccaneers’ front office during White’s selection in 2019. Additionally, White will reconnect with former teammate Tom Brady, now a minority owner of the Raiders. 8
In the 2024 season, White signed a one-year deal with the Philadelphia Eagles but was released without taking the field. He later joined the Houston Texans, appearing in seven games and recording 19 tackles.
The Raiders have experienced significant turnover at the linebacker position, with departures of starters Robert Spillane and Divine Deablo in free agency. White is expected to compete for a starting role, aiming to revitalize his career and provide leadership to the Raiders’ defense.
This strategic signing reflects the Raiders’ commitment to strengthening their defensive lineup as they prepare for the upcoming NFL season.
