Dorrington’s path to the Rangers began when he was acquired from the Vancouver Canucks on January 31, 2025, in a trade that also brought forward J.T. Miller and defenseman Erik Brännström to New York. Prior to turning professional, Dorrington completed his junior season at Northeastern University, where he recorded two goals and 13 assists for 15 points over 37 games. Throughout his three collegiate seasons, he amassed eight goals and 25 assists, totaling 33 points in 105 games, along with a plus-17 rating.
