Rebuilding History: The Restoration of Notre Dame Cathedral
Paris’ beloved Notre Dame Cathedral, a symbol of faith, history, and architectural brilliance, is nearing the final stages of its grand restoration following the devastating fire of April 15, 2019. The massive reconstruction effort aims to return the 850-year-old Gothic masterpiece to its former glory, with plans for reopening in December 2024.
The fire, which tore through the cathedral’s roof and caused the iconic spire to collapse, left much of the structure in peril. Since then, a dedicated team of architects, engineers, and artisans has worked tirelessly to restore every intricate detail, using historical techniques and original materials whenever possible.
