NFL News: Panthers Confirm Bryce Young Will Lose Veteran Teammate for 2025 Season

February 25, 2025

The Carolina Panthers have confirmed that quarterback Bryce Young will be without a key veteran teammate for the 2025 season, a significant loss for a team already struggling to build consistency. Sources within the organization revealed that the veteran’s departure—whether due to free agency, retirement, or a trade—will impact the team’s chemistry and leadership.

While the Panthers have not officially named the departing player, speculation points to wide receiver Adam Thielen or offensive lineman Taylor Moton, both of whom have been instrumental in providing stability for Young during his challenging rookie and sophomore campaigns.

Thielen, the former Pro Bowl receiver, was Young’s most reliable target in 2024, leading the team in receptions and receiving yards. His experience helped the young quarterback navigate a tough season. If Thielen leaves, the Panthers will have a glaring hole at wide receiver, putting more pressure on the front office to find new weapons.

On the other hand, if Moton departs, it would be an even bigger concern. The offensive line was already one of the weakest links in Carolina’s struggling offense. Losing Moton, one of the most dependable linemen on the roster, would leave Young even more vulnerable in the pocket, increasing the risk of another difficult season.

This news only adds to the uncertainty surrounding the Panthers’ plans for 2025. With a new coaching staff in place and the team looking to rebuild after back-to-back disappointing seasons, Young will now have to adjust without a trusted veteran presence. Whether the Panthers address this loss through free agency or the NFL Draft remains to be seen, but one thing is clear: Young’s path to success just got a little tougher.
