Leicester City have written themselves into the record books—but not in a good way. The Foxes became the first side in Premier League history to lose six consecutive home matches without scoring, following a 4-0 defeat to Brentford at the King Power Stadium.
Brentford exploited Leicester’s defensive frailties from the start, with goals from Yoane Wissa, Bryan Mbeumo, and Christian Norgaard in the first half, before Fabio Carvalho added a late strike to seal the win. This drubbing extends Leicester’s dismal home form, eclipsing previous records such as Norwich’s five consecutive scoreless home losses in the 2019–20 season.
Manager Ruud van Nistelrooy expressed his frustration after the match. “After the bright start, we were never in the game again,” he admitted. His comments underscored a season plagued by poor attacking output and defensive lapses. Despite intermittent flashes of quality from Jamie Vardy and other attacking players, Leicester have struggled to convert chances into goals on home soil, much to the dismay of a dwindling fanbase.
The record comes at a critical juncture as Leicester languish in the relegation zone. With just a handful of matches remaining in the season, the scoreless streak at home has added mounting pressure on van Nistelrooy’s side, who now face an uphill battle to secure survival in one of football’s most competitive leagues.
This historic low not only highlights the tactical and personnel issues plaguing the Foxes but also serves as a stark reminder of the work needed to turn their fortunes around. For Leicester, breaking this record may be the first step toward a long-overdue resurgence.
