Colts’ JuJu Brents Honors Mother with Nonprofit for Single Parents
Indianapolis Colts cornerback JuJu Brents has launched a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting single parents, a heartfelt tribute to his mother, who raised him as a single parent.
Brents, a second-year player out of Kansas State, said the initiative is deeply personal. Growing up in Indianapolis, he watched his mother, Shonda, work tirelessly to provide for their family. Her resilience and sacrifices inspired him to give back to families facing similar challenges.
The nonprofit, named **”Shonda’s Hope Foundation,”** aims to offer financial assistance, childcare support, and educational resources to single parents in need. Brents hopes it will ease some of the burdens that often come with raising children alone.
“I’ve seen firsthand how hard it can be for a single parent,” Brents said. “My mom is my hero. This is my way of honoring her and helping others who are walking the same path.”
The foundation will also provide mentorship programs, focusing on empowering both parents and children to achieve their goals. Brents plans to be actively involved, engaging with families and using his platform to create lasting change in his hometown and beyond.
Teammates and Colts staff have praised Brents for his leadership and community commitment, emphasizing that his impact goes far beyond the football field.
With this initiative, Brents hopes to inspire others in the NFL and the community to support single-parent families. “It’s about showing them they’re not alone,” he said.
For Brents, the foundation is more than charity—it’s a lasting tribute to his mother’s strength and a promise to uplift families like his own.
