Devonte Aransibia dies aged 26 as GoFundMe set up for ex-Norwich footballer’s family

Former Norwich City academy player Devonte Aransibia has tragically passed away at the age of 26. Aransibia began his football journey with Norwich’s youth teams, later playing for clubs including Chelmsford, Welling United, Tonbridge Angels, and Maidstone United. He was part of Maidstone’s notable FA Cup run last season, contributing to their victory over Ipswich Town.

In response to his untimely passing, Aransibia’s family has established a GoFundMe page to support his loved ones. The page has garnered nearly £8,000 in donations, with contributions from Premier League players Jamal Lewis and Max Aarons, both former Norwich teammates.

Tributes have poured in from former clubs and teammates, highlighting Aransibia’s kindness and talent. Tonbridge Angels’ chair, Sophie Purves, expressed deep sorrow, stating, “Everyone at Tonbridge Angels is utterly devastated by the tragic news of Devonte’s death. He was such a strong, talented footballer and a sensitive young man.”

 

Norwich City announced that a memorial applause will take place before their upcoming match against Preston North End, with players and staff wearing black armbands in his honor.

Aransibia is remembered as a loving partner, devoted father, cherished son, and dear friend to many. His family described him as “the embodiment of kindness and compassion, always ready with a warm smile.The football community mourns the loss of a promising talent gone too soon.
