Philadelphia Eagles deny 'counterfeit' advertisements endorsing Kamala Harris

Philadelphia—The Philadelphia Eagles have officially denied endorsing Vice President Kamala Harris after counterfeit ads surfaced around the city, falsely claiming her as the “official candidate of the Philadelphia Eagles.”

The ads, featuring Harris in an Eagles uniform holding a football, began appearing at bus stops on Monday. The team responded quickly, stating on social media, “We are aware counterfeit political ads are being circulated and are working with our advertising partner to have them removed.”

NBC Philadelphia reported that at least six of these unauthorized ads were spotted before they were taken down. The source of the posters remains unknown.

Scott Goldsmith, President and CEO of Intersection Media, which manages the bus stop advertising, confirmed that the ads were not authorized or paid for. “We are aware that several of our bus shelters have been vandalized, and the paid advertising copy has been replaced with unauthorized material,” he stated.

Goldsmith also noted that while ad boxes are typically locked to prevent such incidents, some individuals manage to access them. A city spokesperson confirmed that the break-ins were physical, emphasizing that the unauthorized ads were not a result of digital hacking.

In recent months, misinformation has proliferated online, including deepfake videos and AI-generated images, raising concerns about the integrity of political messaging. As the Eagles and Intersection Media work to remove the fraudulent ads, they remind the public to verify information before accepting it as true.
